English

Students study the works of writers from all over the world and develop skill in analyzing story grammar, story meaning and story context, recognizing the influences of different cultures upon the works of writers. Students are expected to complete specific research papers that provide experience in using original sources, peer-reviewed sources, scientific research and opinion-response. Students gain proficiency in writing essays and other literary forms, receiving correction on a regular basis.

The English department offers honors level courses at all grades and the English sequence can be completed with AP English in the senior year.

PCA graduates consistently point to their writing preparation received at PCA as the reason for their success at the college level.
