This session is for children who are interested in science and are curious about the ocean. By raising awareness about the marine environment (through fun activities like encountering tide pool animals, learning about beaches and estuaries, dissecting a shark, and recognizing marine life from seaweeds to whales), our children can learn to be better stewards of these important ecosystems.  The camp will feature lessons, activities and games and will include a field trip to the Seacoast Science Center.  This week will be taught by Katherine Watson, a marine scientist and PCA Environmental Science teacher with degrees from Northeastern University and Long Island University.

 Rocketry Camp (August 8-12)
Blast off to fun!
Have you ever wondered about space exploration?  Or have you wanted to build a rocket and blast it off?  Now you can learn about both at PCA this summer!  In our elementary rocket science program, students will learn about the history of space exploration from its earliest days, continuing through the 1950s "Space Race", and culminating with NASA's current programs.  Each day will include lessons about these topics, as well as hands-on construction of a model rocket.  By the end of this week, students will have a greater understanding of the history of space exploration and rocket science and will also have the chance to launch their model rocket!
Michael Hickey is a graduate of Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts and is currently teaching fifth grade at Portsmouth Christian Academy, and this will be his second year of teaching the Rocketry summer program here at PCA.  He has worked at the Stony Brook School Summer Programs on Long Island for 7 years, and he directed their science and rocket program for elementary students.  He was responsible for developing and delivering the curriculum to the 45 students in the program.  He enjoys teaching rocket science to young students and exposing them to the wonder and excitement that so easily follow!

 Construction Engineering (July 18-22)
Does your child like to build things and take things apart?  During Construction Engineering week, your child will be challenged with projects such as building the best egg protection vehicle for an egg drop competition or by building the strongest bridge with limited resources.  Your child will also be deconstructing some of our favorite electronics to see what is on the inside.

 Soccer (July 25-29)
Come improve your skills of the number one game in the world.  PCA soccer coaches Dan Dickens and Mike Hickey will be leading this week.  Athletes will learn skills, both tactical and technical to become better soccer players.  Through small sided games, and teachable moments, campers will be challenged to improve their game.  At the end of the week campers will be given a guide that is tailored for each of them individually to use the skills they learned and be the best that they can be.

This week is dedicated to all things water.  Activities will include a trip to the beach, going swimming, having water balloon fights, playing drip – drip – drop, and much, much more!  This week will not only be filled with fun, but it will also be educational as well.  We will explore how water is used to create electricity and take a trip to the Seacoast Science Center.  Get cooled off in the hot summer sun as we explore and play with water.

 Rocketry (August 8-12)
This week will be all about flight and space.  We will have our famous paper airplane competition, rocket launch party, and back by popular demand… our water balloon launch competition.  We will take a look at zero gravity and what it would be like on the moon.  We will also get to help build a model rocket and launch it on the last day.  Be prepared to have a “blast” with games and activities that are out of this world!
