DOVER, NH — With Thanksgiving just three weeks away, hundreds of students participated in a food drive at Portsmouth Christian Academy at Dover. For the month of October, elementary Student Council members challenged their classmates in kindergarten through grade 8 to collect theme specific items each week to help support local families through the Seacoast Family Food Pantry. The response from their peers may have even surpassed their donation last year.
“Last year, PCA donated almost $5,000 worth of food,” claimed Diane Giese, Executive Director for the Seacoast Family Food Pantry. “It was, and remains to be, the largest one-time donation we ever received.”
All the food and personal care products will go directly to those in need right here in our Seacoast community. “In 2010, we have four times as many families in need as we did in the year 2007,” stated Giese. “Our goal is to be able to serve our Seacoast community with dignity and compassion.”
“The children and families of PCA are clearly demonstrating that they are the hands and feet of Christ,” stated Jan Buchanan, PCA 7th grade teacher. “I am encouraged to see our Student Council members organize and coordinate this drive as a way to reach out to our local community.”
Portsmouth Christian Academy at Dover is located at 20 Seaborne Drive, Dover, NH.
