DOVER, NH — More than 168 dads and daughters attended the Portsmouth Christian Academy Father/Daughter Dance on Oct. 17. Guests, dressed in their best attire (some complete with matching western outfits) enjoyed a large buffet dinner of tacos with all the fixings, fresh fruit, and sweets. They danced throughout the evening to a blend of contra and country square dance music.
With no experience necessary, the professional “Caller” guided the dads with their daughters through a series of figures or moves with each other and then with other couples. These figures were repeated and combined in different ways for each different dance.
“It was a fun and enjoyable evening for all who attended. I even heard of one father who drove here from Pennsylvania to be with his two girls,” said NellAnn Hiatt, a parent volunteer who coordinated the dance. “This event is such a memory builder. It is a great way to encourage dads to spend quality time with their daughters.”
